Did interference occur? – was it increasingly than minimal? (ie just "any" contact does not count - must have interfered.....) No = no let Yes – protract thought process…. 2. Could the obstructed player have reached the wittiness and made a good return – and was that player making every effort to do so? No = no let Yes – protract thought process…. 3. Did the obstructed player move past the point of interference and play on – or create the interference in moving to the ball? Yes = no let No – protract thought process…. 4. Did the outgoing opponent make every effort to stave the interference? No = stroke to obstructed incoming player Yes – protract thought process…. 5. Did the interference prevent the incoming players reasonable swing? Yes = stroke to obstructed incoming player No – protract thought process…. 6. Could the obstructed player have made a winning return (without turning or second attempt) ? Yes = stroke to obstructed player No – yes let Notes: The referee goes thru the whilom thought process in a split second, he/she moreover sees it from a variegated vantage point to you – be magnanimous & gracious if the outcome is not quite what you wanted ‘Contact’ is not a guaranteed let – it may have been ‘minimal’ – note 1, or you may have ‘played on’ - note 3 Use the whilom to work out how you behave – eg you must make ‘every effort to reach the ball’ – note 2 As whilom – if ref thinks you would not have got to the wittiness to play a shot – it may be “no let” – note 2 Be enlightened of the opposite, if you play on past the point of interference but (say considering wittiness is tropical to wall) you decide not to play it – no let – note 3   Further Information @ www.worldsquash.org Last Updated (Saturday, 15 October 2016 16:05)  Copyright © 2010 Nottinghamshire Squash Rackets Association Air-IT Sponsors of the Nottinghamshire League and County Cup
